What is Botox?

Neuromodulators are a category of injectable treatments designed to temporarily relax the facial muscles that cause expression lines like squinting, frowning, or raising your brows. By calming these muscles, they help smooth existing wrinkles and prevent new ones from forming.

At Facet Dermatology, we offer a portfolio of trusted neuromodulators including Botox Cosmetic®, Dysport®, and Xeomin®. All three are FDA- and Health Canada-approved.

How Neuromodulators Work

When injected into precise facial muscles, these treatments block nerve signals that trigger movement. Over time, repeated expressions can cause lines to settle into the skin — but neuromodulators help break that cycle. Botox Cosmetic®, Dysport®, and Xeomin® target these dynamic wrinkles by temporarily relaxing the underlying muscles. This not only softens visible lines but helps prevent them from becoming static wrinkles that stick around, even when your face is at rest.

What can Botox Treat?

There are many ways treatments with neuromodulators can help enhance your appearance or improve certain concerns. We recommend asking Dr. Geeta Yadav about all your treatment options during your initial consultation, but some of the most popular uses of this minimally-invasive procedure include:

  • Frown lines (glabellar lines)
  • Forehead lines
  • Crow’s feet
  • Bunny lines (nose wrinkles)
  • Lip lines and smoker’s lines
  • Downturned mouth corners
  • Neck bands
  • Chin dimpling
  • Excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis)

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Botox safe?

Yes. Botox is safe and well-established, with an excellent safety profile when administered by trained medical professionals. At FACET, Botox treatments are exclusively performed by Dr. Yadav — never delegated to less qualified staff.

Botox has been used safely for both medical and cosmetic indications, including in pediatric patients with conditions like cerebral palsy. Minor side effects may include mild bruising, swelling, or headache. More serious side effects are rare and minimized by seeing a skilled injector.

How many Botox units will I need?

Every face is different. Some patients may need 10 units; others may need 40+. We don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach.

During your consultation, Dr. Yadav will assess your anatomy and tailor your dosage to meet your needs — ensuring your result is effective, not overdone. For example, treating forehead lines typically requires about 20 units, but this varies based on individual muscle strength and desired outcome.

Botox vs. Dermal Fillers: what is the difference?

While both are injectable treatments, Botox and dermal fillers serve different purposes: - Botox relaxes muscles to reduce wrinkles caused by movement. - Fillers restore volume and structure to areas that have lost fullness, like cheeks, lips, and nasolabial folds.

We often combine both treatments for a more complete facial rejuvenation — known as a “soft lift.” This approach can smooth, lift, and restore youthful contours without surgery.

Is Botox right for you?

If you’re 18 or older and looking to prevent or soften facial lines, Botox may be a great option. Ideal candidates are healthy, not pregnant or breastfeeding, and free from allergies to any neuromodulator ingredients.

Whether you’re brand new to injectables or looking for a more elevated, expert-led experience, we’re here to help. During your consultation, Dr. Yadav will assess your goals and create a tailored plan just for you.
