What your weight loss program is probably missing
Most weight loss support stops at the prescription. But if you've started losing weight, or you're thinking about it, you already know the questions don't stop there. What's happening to your skin? Why does your face look different? Is this medication actually right for you? The Metabolic Skin Consultation was built for patients who want real answers from a physician who understands both the medical and aesthetic side of weight loss, not a script and a send-off.
What happens at your consultation
This is a single, in-depth appointment with a board-certified dermatologist who specializes in both medical and cosmetic dermatology. Before your visit, we order targeted bloodwork covering key metabolic markers so your results are ready to review when you sit down. From there, your consultation covers three things most weight loss clinics never touch.
Your metabolic health.
We review your bloodwork together and talk through what it means in plain language, covering markers like glucose, lipids, and other metabolic indicators. If GLP-1 medication is something you're considering, or already on, we walk you through the evidence: how it works, what to expect, how dosing is managed, and what side effects to watch for. If a GLP-1 isn't right for you, we'll tell you that too.
Your Skin
Weight loss changes your skin. Sometimes it's laxity, sometimes it's volume loss in the face, sometimes it's a flare-up of acne or rosacea tied to hormonal shifts. We do a full aesthetic assessment and build a treatment plan around what we're actually seeing, not a generic checklist.
Your bigger picture.
Sometimes what comes up in your consultation points to something outside our scope, a conversation with your OB-GYN about hormonal contraception, a referral for thyroid follow-up, or a flag your family doctor should know about. We connect those dots for you and make sure you leave with a clear plan, not just for your skin, but for where to go next.
Who is This Consultation For?
This is for patients who want more than a prescription. You might be considering GLP-1 medication and want a physician who will actually explain the science, monitor your progress, and address what's happening to your appearance along the way. You might already be losing weight and noticing changes in your skin, your face, or your body composition that no one warned you about. You might be navigating perimenopause, postpartum shifts, or hormonal changes that are affecting your skin and your metabolism at the same time. Or you might simply be someone who wants a doctor to sit with you, look at the full picture, and give you a real plan.
Whatever brought you here, every recommendation is grounded in your lab results, your health history, and your individual goals.
Why This Weight Loss & Skin Consultation Exists at FACET
FACET Dermatology is a research-active clinic that has run more than 35 dermatology trials, with Dr. Geeta Yadav serving as principal investigator on more than 20 clinical trials. Dr Yadav, a board-certified dermatologist, Clinical Adjunct at the University of Toronto, practices both medical and cosmetic dermatology. This means she brings a perspective most clinics simply can't offer: the ability to evaluate what's happening inside your body and what it's doing to your appearance, in the same room, at the same appointment.
The Metabolic Skin Consultation was designed because she kept seeing the same gap. Patients were getting prescriptions for weight loss with no guidance on the skin and aesthetic changes that follow, or they were getting aesthetic treatments with no understanding of the metabolic changes driving what they saw in the mirror. This consultation closes that gap.
What Patients Walk Away With
Every patient starts from a different place, so outcomes look different for everyone. But what patients consistently tell us is that they finally feel like someone explained things clearly. Through your bloodwork, you'll understand what's actually going on with your metabolism, not just a number on a scale. Through your aesthetic assessment, you'll have a specific plan for your skin, your face, and your body composition, built around what we're seeing clinically, not what's trending online. And through the follow-up structure, you'll have a physician checking in, adjusting, and keeping you on track. You leave with a roadmap, not a pamphlet.
