Latisse® is the first and only Health Canada and FDA–approved prescription treatment for eyelash growth. Made with bimatoprost, Latisse® extends the natural growth cycle of your lashes, resulting in lashes that are longer, thicker, and darker over time. At FACET Dermatology, every patient is evaluated by a board-certified dermatologist to ensure safe, effective use as part of your overall aesthetic plan.

What Is Latisse®?

Latisse® is a prescription-only topical treatment that stimulates eyelash growth. Its active ingredient, bimatoprost, extends the growth phase of lashes while increasing the number of lashes growing at one time. With consistent nightly application, patients see gradual but significant improvement in lash length, fullness, and colour.

How it works

Eyelashes grow in cycles, just like scalp hair. Latisse® works by prolonging the anagen (growth) phase and encouraging more lashes to grow simultaneously. Applied to the upper lash line with a sterile applicator, the medication is absorbed at the follicle level to stimulate natural lash growth. Results begin around 8–12 weeks, with peak results at 16 weeks.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Latisse® safe?

Yes, when prescribed and monitored by a qualified physician. The most common side effects are mild redness, dryness, or irritation around the eyes. Rarely, it can darken the skin where applied or increase iris pigmentation.

How soon will I see results from Latisse®?

Most patients begin to see visible results in 8–12 weeks, with full results at 16 weeks. Consistency is key for best outcomes.

What happens if I stop using Latisse®?

Your lashes will gradually return to their baseline appearance within a few weeks to months. Ongoing use is necessary to maintain results.

Can I apply Latisse® to my lower lashes?

No. Latisse® should only be applied to the upper lash line to avoid irritation or unwanted hair growth.

Who should not use Latisse®?

Patients who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or who have certain eye conditions may not be suitable candidates. A dermatologist will assess your medical history to ensure safety.

How do I use Latisse® correctly?

Apply nightly to a clean, dry upper lash line with a fresh sterile applicator. Blot excess to avoid skin darkening. Avoid touching the eye itself with the applicator.
