Medical Dermatology at FACET

Expert dermatologic care, grounded in evidence and covered by OHIP.

At FACET Dermatology, we provide comprehensive medical dermatology services to diagnose, treat, and manage a wide range of conditions. When a concern is considered medically necessary, these services are covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) for eligible Ontario residents.

Our focus is always the same: thoughtful assessment, clear answers, and personalized treatment plans led by board-certified dermatologists.

What OHIP Covers (and What It Doesn’t)

OHIP covers medically necessary dermatology services, including the assessment and treatment of skin conditions that impact your health.

Cosmetic & elective services are not covered by OHIP and are offered separately through our cosmetic dermatology services.

If you’re unsure whether your concern is medical or cosmetic, your referring physician can help guide this, and our team is always happy to clarify next steps once your medical referral is received. If your concern is deemed cosmetic or elective, you can proceed with booking an appointment with us directly.

Referrals: What You Need to Know

All OHIP-covered medical dermatology appointments require a relevant physician referral.

You can obtain a referral from:

  • Your family doctor
  • A walk-in clinic physician

Once your referral is sent to our clinic, our team will review it and contact you to book the appropriate appointment.

When to Seek Medical Dermatology Care

You may benefit from a medical dermatology referral if you are experiencing:

  • A new, changing, or concerning skin spot
  • A chronic or inflammatory skin condition
  • Hair or scalp concerns related to medical hair loss
  • Persistent rashes, growths, or symptoms that have not resolved

Early assessment matters. When something doesn’t look or feel right, medical expertise makes all the difference.

Next Steps

If you believe your concern may be medically necessary:

  1. Request a referral from your family doctor or a walk-in clinic
  2. Have the referral sent to FACET Dermatology
  3. Our team will be in touch to guide you from there

For questions about referrals, coverage, or whether your concern is medical or cosmetic, we’re always here to help.
